Since his move from TSG Hoffenheim to Borussia Dortmund, Nico Schulz has not really got going. The left rail player did not live up to the expectations placed on him. First the twelve-time national player landed on the bench, then in the stands and in the meantime even in the reserve team. Among other things, this had to do with the 30-year-old’s escapades off the field.
According to the ‘Bild’, BVB wants to close the Schulz chapter as soon as possible. According to the tabloid report, those responsible for second place in the table would forego transfer income, although even in 2019 they put a whopping 25 million euros on the table for Schulz. Despite the lack of demand from the Bundesliga club, the interest of other clubs has so far been limited.
With an annual salary of almost six million euros, Schulz is one of the best earners in the black and yellow. One of many reasons why Sebastian Kehl and Co. want to let the transfer flop go free of charge. A move to Lazio Rome fell through in January. Whether the Laziali will make representations again is currently not foreseeable.
