[Deal du Jour] As part of the 2023 winter sales, Amazon is offering a discount on its new Kindle. This new edition of the reader is lighter and more compact than previous versions. It comes in two models, one with ads and one without. Both versions are 15% off.
What is the promotion on this reader?
The new Kindle (2022 model) is on sale for the winter sales. The version with ads is sold €84.99 instead of €99.99. As for the version without advertisements, usually sold at the price of 109.99 €, it is offered at the moment at a price of €94.99.
The option with advertisements displays sponsored content on your device’s lock screen as well as in standby mode.
What is this Kindle e-reader?
This new edition of the Kindle is lighter than previous versions. It is also the most compact Amazon e-reader to date. It has a 6-inch touch screen, a diagonal of more than 15 cm. Its anti-reflective screen has a definition of 300 pp and offers sharper texts. The contrast is excellent and the brightness is fortunately adjustable. The latter tends to be aggressive when pushed to the max. The lack of an option to remove blue light, as is the case with the Kobo range, is also unfortunate. Nevertheless, the reading comfort remains pleasant, thanks to its powerful electronic ink screen, as well as the presence of the dark mode.
The Kindle connects to a computer via a USB-C cable. You can transfer your eBooks there, via the Caliber software. You will also be able to buy books directly on the reader, in the dedicated Kindle store. The latter contains paid eBooks, but also free books. There is also a Kindle subscription at 9.99 euros per month which allows you to read many titles. Note that the Kindle lends itself very well to reading manga.
Is this e-reader a good deal at this price?
Less than 100 euros for both versions, it is indeed a bargain. The internal memory of the Kindle is 16 GB. You can store several thousand books there. The reader’s menu is ergonomic and responsive enough to make navigation pleasant. Many settings are present, and the basic features during playback are easily accessible. Font, text size and brightness are adjustable for easy reading.
Amazon is reviewing the autonomy of its reader. A single charge via USB-C promises up to six weeks of use with regular use. In the case of a reading of the integral ofIn Search of Lost Time with the maximum brightness, count four to five weeks. Finally, this Kindle is the most ecological of Amazon readers. It is made from 30-75% recycled plastics and 90% recycled magnesium.
