Second place is now at stake against EHC Lustenau.

On Saturday, after five wins in a row against EC Kitzbühel, the cracks from EC Bregenzerwald suffered their first defeat in the qualifying round, but they still qualified early for the pre-play-off. Surprisingly, HC Meran had to admit defeat to the Future Team from Klagenfurter AC and can therefore no longer outperform the woods mathematically.

The eagles from the Gamsstadt, which have been reinforced with three well-known newcomers, were able to take revenge for the 1:2 home defeat a week earlier and left the ice in the exhibition hall as a 6:3 winner. Waltteri Lehtonen put the home side ahead in the seventh minute, but the visitors equalized in the middle. In the final third, the almost 600 fans got to see seven more goals, five of them for the Tyrolean team. Julian Metzler (50th / to 2: 3) and Julius Nyqvist (57th / to 3: 5) left the net wriggling for the Tigers.

In the two remaining games against EHC Lustenau, two points ahead of the woods, coach Markus Juurikkala’s team is still fighting for second place in qualifying group B. The first duel is on Wednesday, February 22nd at 7:30 p.m. in Dornbirn over the stage, the second leg takes place on Saturday, February 25th at the same time in Lustenau. In the pre-play-off, Roberts Lipsbergs & Co. meet either the Zeller Eisbären or the Wipptal Broncos. The team that goes first to two wins then qualifies for the Alps Hockey League quarter-final playoff.
