Former SEIDO commander accused of torturing "El Cepillo" in the Ayotzinapa case appears

MEXICO CITY (appro)

Process reported this morning that, according to the deputy attorney for Human Rights, Alejandro Encinas, the former PGR commander was arrested yesterday morning, June 25, in compliance with an arrest warrant for torture, forced disappearance, and a coalition of public servants for the Ayotzinapa case.

Federal sources confirmed to this publishing house that last night at 11:00 p.m., Gualberto Ramírez appeared at the initial hearing at the Federal Criminal Justice Center of the South Prison, which was suspended two hours later and restarted this morning at 7:00 a.m. .

During the procedure, the former official will listen to the accusation that the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) has against him.

If the defense requests that his legal situation be determined today, the judge will have to decide whether or not to link him to proceedings for the crimes that the FGR charges against him and the precautionary measures that he must comply with while the litigation lasts.

The former official’s defense may request the duplication of the constitutional term, in which case the judge must set a new date and time for the continuation of the initial hearing in which Gualberto Ramírez may present exculpatory evidence to avoid his link to the process.

Since last year, Gualberto Ramírez had an arrest warrant against him for the torture committed against Felipe Rodríguez Salgado “El Cepillo”, identified as an alleged hit man for the Guerreros Unidos, whose interrogation, carried out in 2015, was videotaped and broadcast. in social networks until the year 2020.

Gualberto Ramírez has been accused of being present during the interrogation which, according to the FGR, was ordered by former attorney Jesús Murillo Karam to force the “Cepillo” to testify according to the so-called historical truth of the disappearance of the 43 Ayotzinapa normalistas.

For these events, on April 21, Murillo Karam was linked to the trial by the control judge, Felipe de Jesús Delgadillo Padierna.
