News JVTech Forspoken is asking for a €4,000 configuration to play it in good conditions…

Forspoken is the new “excluded” PS5 that wants to offer a large enough open world, but above all, very pleasant to look at. PC players will be able to take advantage of a Steam version, but which requires rather solid configurations to play it in good conditions.

A Sony game full of ambitions

The countdown is on for Forspoken, the game from Luminous Production. After working on the ambitious and excessive Final Fantasy XV in 2016, the team took the gamble of a game that sees big with the same engine. At the time, FF XV was only released on PS4 before appearing on PC in 2018 on the Steam platform and Epic Game Store.

Forspoken will immerse us in a fantastic universe through the eyes of Frey, a New Yorker who will find herself in the fantastic world of Athia. Luminous Studio uses the concept of Isekai, very well known in the world of manga, to offer us a great adventure in an open space that is just as great. We are clearly not looking to reinvent the wheel, but the studio wants to offer an extensive narrative experience and combat based on magical powers that Frey will collect as the game progresses.

Apart from the development team, Forspoken was produced on the same engine as Final Fantasy XV. If you don’t know what a “game engine” is, it is simply the software used to conceptualize the game. The best known are notably Unity or Unreal Engine. The Luminous Engine allows developers to work on bases already well established during their first experience in 2016.

Of course, a lot of things are changing… The engine has already been well appreciated by players, but this time around we have to create a game that will only be playable on PC and PS5, so the expectations on the technical side are very different. The team thinks it’s good to use the famous Luminous Engine for their Forspoken project, but we still have to see the configurations recommended by them…

Very greedy PC configurations

This is where the bottom hurts, since Forspoken is asking for no less than an i7-12700K processor from Intel or a Ryzen 5 5800X from AMD. On the graphics card side, there is an RTX 4080 from Nvidia… The second most powerful GPU at the moment. On the RAM side, the studio expects no less than 32 GB of RAM to run the game in 4K at 60 fps.

Of course, you can always fall back on the minimum specs, to play in 720p 30 fps with an i7 3770 / Ryzen 5 1600 and a GTX 1060 from Nvidia. To play in such bad conditions in 2023, you can go there.

Today, many players take advantage of this bastard resolution that is 1440p (2K). Between the lower quality of Full HD (1080p) and the delicacy of 4K. We already know that the game will take you at least 150 GB on your storage space, which is simply huge.

So, does Forspoken run on your setup?
