Marvel’s most mischievous villain -or anti-hero?- returns just in time to take over from Disney+’s not-so-successful Secret Invasion. Of course, what has already been shown in the new batch of Loki episodes reflects everything we liked about its first season: chaos, lack of control and a protagonist who, despite being involved in time lines that collapse in his path, seems to feel in its sauce.
The essentials: the second season of Loki arrives October 6 to Disney+. Or, at least, the first of the six episodes that will give shape to a new original plot in which we will see temporary jumps, unpredictable variants of known characters and the return of Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror. Or, at least, a very different version of him than the one we got to see in the last Ant-Man movie.
Put like that, out of the blue, it seems like a succession of exaggerations within a Marvel Studios television legacy that has given us less joy than expected. However, It’s hard not to be optimistic after seeing the official trailer.
We can see again how Tom Hiddleston he has a blast playing Loki amid chaos, explosions, and time slips that make him more unpredictable than he used to be. and also how Owen Wilsonwho plays Mobius, tries to keep his feet on the ground with more or less success throughout the film along with old acquaintances from the first season who appear in new situations and new signings that will give more color to events.
Because, we are not going to deny it, this approach to dr who format What Disney and Marvel Studios have tailored to the character of Hiddleston is more salvageable than Phase Four of Marvel has left us on small screens. And, with a bit of luck, perhaps it will straighten out the complicated start that this new stage is having in the face of what should be the big event: Avengers: Secret Wars.
Two new posters and a key date: October 6
Along with the trailer, Disney+ has offered two new appetizers of Loki Season 2 in a poster style that reinforces that style inspired by surreal art and the corporate aesthetic of the mid-20th century that serve as a declaration of intent: we will see how the devious God of Deception twists time lines while we will discover or meet again with different variants from himself.
The second season of Loki, moreover, is a key piece in order to continue the study’s plans in a really delicate period: beyond the actors’ and writers’ strike, it will come before the premiere of The Marvels (scheduled for November 9) and to the series Threw out (November 29th). Two projects released with little margin between them that will shelve the productions of Marvel Studios for 2023.
In any case, if the last episode of the new season of Loki will be released just one day after The Marvels hit the billboards. Coincidence, intentional, or a way to encourage fans to go to theaters? When the most mischievous adopted Asgardian is involved, everything is possible at once.
