The Minister Delegate for Transport, Clément Beaune, called on French companies to “be there, especially in the transport sector”.

The French government has promised to provide ships, buses and railways to Ukraine, whose transport infrastructure was badly damaged by the Russian invasion.

The Minister Delegate for Transport, Clément Beaune, who concluded a four-day visit to Ukraine on Sunday, called on French companies, “from now on”, to “be there, especially in the transport sector”.

The reconstruction of the country estimated at 383 billion euros

According to the French Ministry of Ecological Transition, “the latest assessments estimate the cost of rebuilding Ukraine at 383 billion euros”, including 83 billion just for transport infrastructure.

Clément Beaune “took the initiative to bring together on his return to France the leaders of the main French companies in the transport sector to accelerate their mobilization for Ukraine”, added the ministry in a press release.

In the meantime, France has promised to “donate pilot boats” and to mobilize “the technical expertise of HAROPA Ports (manager of the ports of the Seine, editor’s note) in order to increase grain exports”.

It will also send “additional buses to Ukraine to provide school transport, in addition to the thirty vehicles already delivered”, according to the text.

20,000 tonnes of rails soon to be supplied by France

And Paris has undertaken “to supply 20,000 tons of rails to Ukraine, to rebuild several hundred kilometers of railways” damaged by the fighting and bombing, and “a dozen additional 1.5-ton generators , in addition to the twenty delivered in the coming weeks to Ukrainian Railways”.

Finally, “France welcomes 10 Ukrainian air traffic controllers to the ENAC (National School of Civil Aviation, editor’s note) to prepare for the reopening of the Ukrainian sky”, specified the ministry.

“Since the start of the conflict, France has provided military support which is very important, but there is also civilian support, including in the war effort, which is vital”, explained Clément Beaune, quoted in the press release.
