reported in mid-December FT exclusively from the upcoming deal, now it’s fixed: Jérôme Onguéné is turning his back on Eintracht Frankfurt after only six months and will be loaned out to ex-club RB Salzburg until the end of the season. After FTinformation, there is no purchase option.
Onguéné spent the most successful time of his career so far with the Austrian Retortenklub, appearing on the pitch for Salzburg a total of 111 times. His contract in the city of Mozart expired last summer and he switched to Eintracht. Since then, however, the central defender has been slowed down by several injuries, so that he has not been able to play a single minute in the SGE jersey.
Onguéné now wants to regain his old strength at his former club. “We are delighted that Jérôme is back and we are convinced that he can help us. We know him well from the past and value his qualities.”, says sports director Christoph Freund. In Frankfurt, Onguéné still has a working paper that is valid until 2027.
