Nearly 500,000 euros in fines, prison sentences ranging from 3 to 4 months. 24 people were tried this Friday in Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine) for fraud in the solidarity fund set up during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Verifications by the Regional Directorate of Public Finances of Brittany (DRFIP 35) revealed the payment of sums that were partly or totally unjustified. If companies have regularized the situation, justice has been seized on certain files.

According to our colleagues, 42 complaints were filed, for a loss of one million euros. This Friday, 19 of the 24 people tried were in the context of an appearance with prior admission of guilt.

In total, 491,700 euros will have to be reimbursed. “Day-fines”, consisting of paying between 540 and 4200 euros were pronounced, as well as sentences of 3 or 4 months in prison or suspended sentence, announced Philippe Astruc, public prosecutor of Rennes.
