The National Frequency Association (ANFR) has just published its monthly observatory of mobile network deployments. If we note that 62,618 4G sites are now authorized in France (59,377 in mainland France, including 54,694 in service), it is the Free Mobile operator which will have been the most active in terms of deployment at the end of 2022.

Free Mobile will have deployed more 4G terminals than other operators

The 4G site authorizations continued to grow in November (+0.5%) and December (+0.6%). The put into service posted almost similar statistics (+0.8% in December). But of all the operators, it’s good Free that stands out from the rest at the end of 2022.

The results of the 4G sites commissioned in mainland France in December 2022 are as follows, according to the ANFR list:

  • Orange (28,975 sites, + 182 in December 2022);
  • SFR (24,265 sites, +173 over the same period);
  • Bouygues Telecom (24,340 sites, +234 over the same period);
  • free mobile (23,524 sites, + 272 over the same period).

In total, therefore, Free will have commissioned 272 new 4G sitesagainst 234 for Bouygues, 173 for SFR and 182 for Orange.

On the overseas side, agreements to set up Telco OI stations in Réunion in the 2100 MHz band and in the 700 MHz band have been granted. The first Orange 4G stations in 700 MHz will also be installed in Mayotte. Finally, know that the institution teaches us that 38,132 5G sites were authorized in France as of January 1, 2023, including 164 sites in Overseas France. 29,315 of them are operational.
