As of January 1st, 2023, the new dog ordinance will apply in Frastanz. This includes a large free-running zone in the Untere Au, where dogs can let off steam.

The new dog ordinance also regulates the areas where dogs are to be kept on a leash. 270 dogs are currently registered in Frastanz. In order to make peaceful coexistence even easier and to avoid dangerous situations between people and free-roaming dogs, the municipal council has passed a new dog ordinance. There is a free-running zone for dogs in the Untere Au, which is intended for letting off steam and meeting other dogs.

The area offers space for throwing sticks, for example. In addition, the former Kneipp facility has been converted into a paddling pool for dogs. Benches for dog owners invite you to linger and chat. Dogs on a leash There are people who are afraid of dogs. Dangerous situations can therefore arise, especially on public paths and squares.

The ordinance therefore takes into account the increasing number of complaints about dogs roaming free. In all settlement areas, Natura 2000 protection zones and various agricultural and forestry areas, dogs must be kept on a leash from January 1, 2023. There is a general ban on dogs in playgrounds in kindergartens and childcare facilities as well as in schoolyards. This ban on dogs also applies in the community park and in the cemetery, except for assistance dogs.

Dispose of dog excrement Dog excrement on meadows and fields contaminate the feed for other animals. Contamination is a problem especially for agriculture. The cattle refuse to eat the grass around a dog poo. If the meadow is mowed and the fodder is pressed into bales, a dog poop picked up in the process can make the whole bale worthless. The disposal of dog waste is therefore clearly regulated in the new dog ordinance.

Dog owners are obliged to pick up and dispose of dog waste from the beginning of the year. The market community continues to provide dog waste bags free of charge. The filled bags are to be disposed of in the public dog waste or residual waste bins or in your own residual waste bag. Course sponsorship In order to make it easier for humans and dogs to live together, the market town of Frastanz sponsors obedience training and dog courses.

For every Frastanz dog registered in Frastanz on December 28th, 2022 – 2 – who has completed training since May 1st, 2022, the owner receives a one-time subsidy of 30.00 euros. Simply present a course confirmation for the dog in the Frastanz town hall and collect the one-time subsidy.
