Coat and Gestures of cold. Changed the landscape in the city / C. Santoro

To illustrate the situation bluntly, in La Plata the temperature dropped more than 15 degrees in a few hours and the scene in the streets showed a radical change: Bermuda shorts, skirts and short sleeves were “transformed” into overalls, long pants and coats. Even this morning, at 6 o’clock the thermometer was barely 7 degrees. Within this framework, the National Meteorological Service activated the yellow alert due to strong gusts of wind, which means that “the area will be affected by winds from the South sector with speeds between 40 and 60 km/h, and gusts that can exceed 75 km/h.” h”.

From hot to cool it went in the blink of an eye. But, above all things, a little relief came in the midst of the “hell” that the City has lived through for many days.

At 12.32 the maximum was recorded yesterday, which reached 28.5 degrees. And from the rainfall and the arrival of a cold front in our area, the thermometer began to drop noticeably until it marked 13.1 degrees at 6:18 p.m., that is, more than fifteen degrees less in a very short time. As expected, after midnight, the temperature continued to drop, so it did not exceed 10 degrees and the neighbors could be seen this morning going out with jackets.

The thermal sensation, meanwhile, made the phenomenon more intensely perceived, since it reached a maximum of 30 degrees and descended beyond 13 degrees.

Hand in hand with relief, many wondered how long the chill will continue. And the answer is that, at least until Sunday, according to the forecast of the National Weather Service.

For today, the SMN forecasts a maximum of 18 degrees and a minimum of 6 degrees, with mostly cloudy skies and the possibility of isolated showers during the afternoon and evening. Meanwhile, as has been said, strong gusts are expected that could reach 69 kilometers per hour.

Tomorrow it would be slightly cloudy, with records between 22 and 9 degrees. While on Sunday the temperature will oscillate between 27 and 14 degrees, also mostly sunny.

On Monday, the thermometer would touch 30 degrees again (the minimum would be 17º); on Tuesday it would move between 31 and 20 degrees; and on Wednesday between 32 and 20 degrees.

Different areas of the country, meanwhile, were under alert for storms and rain, and also for winds from the southern sector with speeds between 50 and 70 km/h and gusts that can exceed 90 km/h in the Patagonian area.

In Misiones, Corrientes, Santiago del Estero, Tucumán, north of Santa Fe and Córdoba, and center-east of Formosa and Chaco, the orange alert was in force for storms that could be accompanied by very intense gusts from the southern sector, hail fall, strong electrical activity and fundamentally abundant water fall in short periods.

The meteorological agency indicated that for these regions accumulated precipitation values between 50 and 70 millimeters were expected, which could be exceeded in a localized way, for which it recommended that the population avoid outdoor activities and not take refuge near trees and electricity poles that they can fall off

Likewise, the SMN ordered a yellow alert for storms for a large part of La Rioja, Catamarca and Salta; some localities of Jujuy and Entre Ríos: a small portion of Córdoba and the west of Chaco and Formosa.

For all these areas, where the temperatures in recent days were oppressive due to the heat, accumulated precipitation values between 30 and 50 millimeters were expected, which could be exceeded in a timely manner, the agency reported.
