Diesel and gasoline prices rose slightly last week, for the last days of government and TotalEnergies rebates.

A slight increase before the January 1 jump. Last week, prices at the pump increased very slightly on average in France, according to the latest published figures this Monday by the Ministry of Ecological Transition. Following the slight rise in oil prices, prices at the pump rose by a few cents.

Two cents to two and a half cents increase

The biggest increase concerns the unleaded 95 E10: the liter rose on average from 1.616 euro to 1.6423 euro, an increase of 2.6 euro cents. On the side of diesel, the increase is 1.7 euro cents, to 1.7665 euro per liter on average last week.

This last week of 2022 was also the last week of government and TotalEnergies rebates (10 cents each). They went out on December 31 at midnight, replaced by an aid of 100 euros for the most modest drivers. This aid will be available from 16 January.

Sharply rising prices this week?

Ditto for diesel, which jumped 11.7 cents over a week, to 1.873 euros on average per litre. Regardless of the end of the rebates, diesel prices should however remain high at the start of the year, with the implementation of the embargo on Russian refined products.
