Good news for those who haven’t watched the Orphan 2: Inception, or want to review the feature: the film already has a confirmed date to reach streaming. It enters the Prime Video catalog on the 4th of january.
Directed by William Brent Bell, the film is a prequel to The orphan, released in 2009, tells the life story of Esther, a 30-year-old woman who suffers from hypopituitarism — a disease that makes her look like a child. Sagacious and malicious, she takes advantage of this condition to commit crimes.
The prequel, called in English Orphan: First Kill, shows Esther running away from a psychiatric clinic. At the time, she was still called Leena Klammer and was considered the most dangerous inmate on the premises.
Later, she discovers that she bears a resemblance to the missing daughter of a wealthy family – who was actually called Esther – and decides to impersonate the girl. That’s how she manages to infiltrate the girl’s parents’ house and plan her first attacks.

To bring this story to life, the feature brought new characters and actors. The team includes Julia Stiles, Mattew Finian, Rossif Sutherland and Kristen Sawatzky. Esther was lived again by Isabelle Fuhrman, who gave life to the killer in 2009, when she was 12 years old.
In 2022, aged 25, she had to rely on makeup and make-up to look like a child-like woman. Also, as the actress grew older, her co-stars had to wear platform shoes to look much taller than her.
The movie’s success
Released in theaters on September 15th, The Orphan 2 earned BRL 9.4 million at the national box office in its opening weekend alone, being seen by more than one million people in Brazil. Worldwide, the film grossed US$ 37 million (almost R$ 200 million).

Unfortunately, the film is not available on Netflix. But you can watch it on apple tv and not Google Play. He also arrives at Prime Video on the 4th of January.
