You are currently viewing Galaxy A15 – Leaks about Samsung’s budget phone indicate a change in strategy

The Galaxy A14 could be one of the last Samsung smartphones with a rounded display.

In addition to the two flagship series with the current Galaxy S23 and the foldables around the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, Samsung also has some more budget-friendly smartphones in its portfolio.

The South Korean manufacturer now seems to be focusing on developing new entry-level models, as new leaks have emerged about one of these cell phones.

The information comes from TheTechOutlookwho want exclusive renders of the Galaxy A15 – and these indicate a general change in strategy at Samsung, which could also have an impact on the upcoming Galaxy S24 generation.

Of course, there is little in the way of technical data that can be seen in the pictures, but what is striking is the design of the supposed Galaxy A15, which differs from its predecessors.

Instead of the rounded frame, the upcoming budget smartphone will have a flat version.

Similar speculation about a changed appearance of Samsung cell phones has already surfaced for the Galaxy S24, which in combination indicates a general change in design philosophy.

The changed framework also leads to different dimensions: The Galaxy A15 is said to be 8.4 millimeters thin at its thickest point. The predecessor in the form of the Galaxy A14, however, measures 9.1 millimeters.

Galaxy A15 Leak: Slim and small?

Potentially, those interested will have to adjust to a smaller display.

According to the leak, this will only have a diagonal of 6.4 inches and will therefore be smaller than the 6.6-inch screen diagonal of the Galaxy A15. However, the resolution of the display is not affected, which at the same time results in a higher PPI value.

The published images also show a slight highlighting of the power and volume buttons, although hopefully these are not final in form.

In addition to the (admittedly subjective) lack of appeal of such a design decision, the keys would also simply be disruptive in a tactile sense and thus counteract the goal of making operation more pleasant.

However, there is still only a leak of the Galaxy A15, Samsung itself has only published a little information about the upcoming budget smartphone. No new details are expected before the end of the year, after all, the predecessor only came onto the market in February 2023.

Now the question is: Do you prefer a flat or rounded display on smartphones – or do you not care about the design as long as the technical data is correct? Is Samsung’s A-series a sensible budget solution or do you prefer other alternatives? Let us know in the comments!
