It has probably not escaped anyone’s notice that blockbusters have become longer and longer, not least in the last ten years. It’s a bit of an unwelcome trend that Transformers, like many other series, have been guilty of, but the new Rise of the Beasts looks to actually break the pattern. If we exclude Bumblebee, which was a spin-off, then Rise of the Beasts is the shortest so far with a confirmed playing time of just under two hours.

Compared to its predecessors, the difference is large, and not least when placed next to Age of Extinction, which clocked in at a terrifying two hours and 45 minutes. Hopefully this is a good sign and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that Rise of the Beasts can offer as fun and fast-paced a story as Bumblebee did with roughly the same playing time. Below is a complete list of all Transformers movies and their respective lengths.

  • Transformers: Age of Extinction – 2:45
  • Transformers: Dark of the Moon – 2:34
  • Transformers: The Last Knight – 2:34
  • Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen – 2:30
  • Transformers – 2:24
  • Bumblebee – 1:54

What do you think about the shorter running time, is it a good sign or were you hoping for a significantly longer film?

Short and sweet, just the way it should be! Now we’re keeping our fingers crossed that this goes well.
