Yesterday, Wednesday, February 8, the first Nintendo Direct of the year took place and it left its fans very satisfied, as some interesting games were announced for the first half of the year and there were a couple of surprise releases. One such release was the Game Boy and GameBoy Advance emulators, available to subscribers to Nintendo Switch Online.

Since yesterday, Nintendo Switch Online subscribers in their basic plan can download and play games from the first Game Boy, Nintendo’s first portable console and one of the most successful. Additionally, Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass subscribers can download and play Game Boy Advance games, with a selection of six titles to launch.

There are currently 9 games in the selection which are Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, Link’s Awakening DS, Tetris, Gargoyle’s Quest, Game & Watch Gallery 3, Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, Metroid II: Return of Samus, Wario Land 3 and Kirby’s Dream Land.

In the case of games gameboy advance, these came with save and rewind states, with the following selection of titles since launch: Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros 3, WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$, Kuru Kuru Kururin, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap. All jewels of this generation.

If you’re a subscriber to the Nintendo Switch Online or Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service, you can now take a walk back in time and play some of the best Game Boy and Gameboy Advance titles, with more coming in the coming months.
