What was shown? When can we play it? We’ll explain it to you.

Phew, it’s over. The September edition of the Nintendo Direct has ended. We’re in fan delirium, but we’re still just managing to type these lines. You’re probably not doing much better if your heart is rooted in the Mushroom Kingdom, Hyrule, the planet Zebes or another Nintendo universe, right?!

Which games were shown? We have put together the complete information package for you. Hop on your Yoshi and let’s go!

Highlight: Paper Mario: The Legend of the Aeon Gate

Genre: Role play | Release: 2024 | Developer: Nintendo

It happened! After countless fans of the Paper Mario series had to wait for many years (and some disappointing parts of the series), what many consider to be the best entry will finally return with a completely renewed look.

Paper Mario: The Legend of the Aeon Gate is the second part of the series and sends Mario on a huge adventure through countless different areas full of unforgettable characters, challenging round-robin battles and a very good plot that is still praised by connoisseurs to this day.

It is still unclear what innovations await us apart from the graphics. However, the trailer definitely hints at some brand new story content, so veterans should also have another good reason to pick it up again.

More games from the Nintendo Direct

There were so many titles shown that we can’t list them all. That’s why we’ve focused on what we think are the most exciting games for most of you – and even those are more than enough!

Lara Croft returns, but not in the form of a new part, but as a remaster of the first three parts from the 90s! So what we can already say: Yes, the look is and will remain old-fashioned. What you have to admit to the makers of the remaster is that they clearly tried to get everything out of the technical framework.

At the Direct, Nintendo also showed a surprising amount of material about the brand new Princess Peach game. This now also has a title, namely Princess Peach: Showtime!, and the first gameplay excerpts are reminiscent of an interesting mix of Luigi’s Mansion (the game seems to take place in a single, large theater) and newer Paper Mario parts (some Action-adventure inserts can be seen). What do you think of what is shown?

  • Genre: Racing game
  • Release: Winter 2023

Meanwhile, the track and character catalog in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is almost bursting at the seams. A few more are added and then it’s finally over! In winter 2023, several well-known Nintendo mascots will once again join the starting lineup, including Diddy Kong and Pauline. There will also be new routes, all that has been confirmed so far Wii Daisy Circuit from, you guessed it, Mario Kart Wii.

And a few more games

Okay, okay, that’s enough. Our fingers already hurt. You know what, here’s a list of other potential gems:

  • F-Zero 99: Battle royale racing game based on the SNES classic, in which 99 opponents compete against each other and destroy each other.
  • Another Code: Recollection: The new edition of two puzzle games from the Nintendo DS. Puzzle, explore, have conversations – the usual.
  • SaGa Emerald Beyond: Japanese role-playing game with flashy characters and complex tactical battles.
  • Battle Crush: Online battle royale that is very reminiscent of Fortnite in terms of optics.
  • Wait: An open-world fantasy RPG with tactical combat. It doesn’t really sound like a game for the Nintendo Switch, but it looks quite exciting.
  • Unicorn Overlord: Another JRPG aimed at connoisseurs of the genre.
  • Among Us: The indie hit returns with a brand new island map, first on the Nintendo Switch.
  • Bandle Tale: A League of Legends Story: A very cute action adventure in the LoL universe. You collect resources, craft upgrades from them and solve quests.
  • Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story: A 3D platformer that is also set in the popular LoL cosmos.
  • WarioWare MoveIt!: The latest part of the popular multiplayer game offers over 200 new mini-games.
  • Eiyuden Chronicle – Hundred Heroes: Have we had a JRPG today? What, so often? Okay, then please just read a few lines above.
  • Eastward: Octopia: The popular action-adventure game is receiving DLC, which will first appear on the Nintendo Switch in winter 2023.
  • Dave the Diver: This year’s indie hit will also be available on the Nintendo Switch from October 26, 2023.

Which of the games shown or even newly announced was your personal highlight of this Nintendo Direct? How do you rate the event overall? Are you completely satisfied, are you bitterly disappointed or do you find yourself somewhere between these two extremes? We’re excited, so feel free to let us know what you think in the comments!
