Garmin has announced the release of an ECG app for its Venu 2 Plus smartwatch in the US confirmed. It recently received clinical clearance from the FDA. Wearables can use the app to record their heart rhythm at any time and check for signs of atrial fibrillation, for example.

Anyone who records an ECG with the application can view the results of the 30-second surveys directly or later in the Garmin Connect app on their smartphone. Even if the ECG app for the Garmin Venu 2 Plus is initially only available in the USA, the launch in other regions is also planned. According to the manufacturer, one still has to wait for the necessary approvals.

At least firmware 11.12 is required on the Venu 2 Plus. The Garmin Connect app should be at least version 4.62 on the smartphone.
