“I am in favor of splitting the elections in the provinces because it makes the provinces discuss issues and problems they have” Garro maintained, but clarified that it does not seem right to him that this decision is made so on the date of the primaries, scheduled for August 13. “It makes me a little noisy that this decision is made so close to STEPbut out there if they had warned us since last year it would have been something else,” he added in statements to El Editor Platense, given during the presentation of the Neighborhood Approach Force of the Buenos Aires Police.
The communal chief from La Plata considered thate “it is quite complex to change the rules of the game with 20 or 25 days remaining for the STEP”, in reference to the moment in which Governor Axel Kicillof would sign the summons decree and that will surely be after the closing of the lists scheduled for June 24. In any case, he remarked: “We are always in favor of unfolding.”
Kicillof assured last week that “there are chances” to split the provincial elections from the national election and recalled that the electoral law empowers him to convene on a date other than the election in which the president, vice president and national legislators will be elected.
“There are possibilities (of unfolding) and that has to do with the fact that by law we have to do the PASS in conjunction with the Nation, but in the general election our laws allow us to do it in a unfolded manner”highlighted Kicillof when asked after leading an act in Berazategui.
The provincial president referred to the decree that he has not yet signed to call the general elections. For now, in the Province, only the open, simultaneous and mandatory primary elections (PASO) were called for August 13 which, according to what is established by Law 14,086, must be carried out on the same date as in the Nation.
