While we are regularly entertained by the takeover of Activision Blizzard, another takeover, well validated this time, is making headlines at the start of the year.

Gearbox acquires Captured Dimensions

On January 4, Gearbox Software announced the acquisition of Captured Dimensions, a company specializing in 3D capture, scanning and reconstruction services based in Texas. She is known for her work in video games, having notably worked for 2K Games or EA, but also in the cinema on films like Avatar, Joker, or even John Wick 3.

Sean Haran, Chief Commercial Officer of Gearbox Entertainment Company, is delighted, also saying:

This acquisition brings incredible technology into the fold for future projects and further expands offerings to strategic partners across multiple business units.

This merger gives us an incredible avenue for growth and opportunity. We are delighted to work hand in hand with some of the most talented developers in the world and to continue to provide our best services to our current customers and our new partners.

As a reminder, the last big games released by Gearbox Software are Borderlands 3 in 2019, and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands last March. We can’t wait to see what the studio has in store for us, and what the acquisition of Captured Dimensions can bring them.
