In the live streaming of the Genshin Impact 3.4 update carried out by HoYoverse last weekend, it was revealed that the new version of the game will be released on January 18, 2023. In it we will have the traditional Lantern Rite event, in addition to Inazuma competitions, stylish outfits (skins) and various rewards, including a free 4-star LiuYe character and 13 Intertwined Fates. During the announcements about Genshin Impact 3.4 it was also revealed that we will have two new characters (Alhaitham and Yaoyao) and a new area in the Sumeru desert.
Lantern Ritual and special events
In this year 2023, the Lantern Ritual brought, as always, several special events, including a music festival with guests from far away from Liyue Port and the Paper Theater. Players will be able to have fun during Genshin Impact’s New Year’s celebration with mini-games such as “Radiant Twinkles”, a racing challenge where fans can acquire the ability to transform into fireworks.
Completing all Season Events and Challenges will reward you with free rewards, including 10 + 3 Intertwined Fates, a 4-star Liyue character, and Lisa’s new outfit.
Competitions in Inazuma
In Inazuma there will be two limited competitions. The first of these is the “Duel of the Warrior’s Spirit”, held by the Yashiro Commission, where participants will have to duel using Inazuma’s traditional sword techniques to show their “true warrior spirit”. Also, in the middle of the game, there will be an exhibition duel with a special guest and Kamisato Ayaka wearing her new outfit (skin).
The second competition is organized by Arataki Itto and is called “Battle of Beetles”. The challenge consists of fights using their Onikabutos.
New Dendro element playable characters and relaunch of others
Finally, much to the delight of fans, Alhaitham will become a playable character. With 5 stars, he will be a sword user and control the Dendro element. Among his skills, Alhaitham is able to create “Slashing Mirrors” to convert his attacks into Dendro Damage, triggering Coordinated Attacks and increasing the Damage of his Ultimate. There will be a story dedicated to the character called “Chapter of Vultur Volans”.
In addition to Alhaitham, we also had another new character: Yaoyao. It is about a child who lives in Liyue who uses a spear as a weapon. Through her ability “Yuegui”, created by an Adeptus, she can deal more Damage or heal team members. The character has a 4-star rarity level and, as stated at the beginning, the character controls the Dendro element.
But the news doesn’t stop there, because in addition to the release of two new characters, we will have in the first phase of update 3.4 of Genshin Impact the return of Xiao, who will appear during the Lantern Ritual at the music festival. For the happiness of the players, HoYoverse has already announced that we will also have the return of two more characters in the 2nd phase of Genshin Impact 3.4: Hutao and Yelan.
New area in Sumeru: Hadramaveth Desert
Along with Lantern Ritual we also had the reveal of a new area in the Sumeru region, the Hadramaveth Desert. After the “Golden Dream” World Quest, the traveler will depart with Jeth from the Tanit Camps, with the aim of finding the mysterious Magic Bottle. In addition, players will have to search for the lost legends and the “Eternal Oasis”, which, according to legends, King Deshret froze time to honor the Goddess of Flowers.
Release and availability
Genshin Impact Update 3.4 will be released on January 18, 2023 for PS5, PS4, PC, Android and iOS (iPhone) phones. Unfortunately, a version of the game for the Nintendo Switch has not yet been released, although the developers have mentioned about the development.
