Traveling to the archipelago for the fourth time since he became Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin announced at the microphone of BFMTV that he wanted to “sustain the presence of RAID in Mayotte”.
“They were arrested and everyone sees that since the arrival of the RAID and the action of the Gign, the island has become calm again, which is a very good thing”, declared the Minister of the Interior.
“I will perpetuate the presence of the RAID in Mayotte”, he announced.
The archipelago, plagued by significant violence for several months, had been granted the exceptional presence of 12 RAID police officers in November. This elite police response unit is usually deployed for special operations, not policing.
