While the driver of the police vehicle, suspected of having hit three minors on a scooter in Paris, was indicted and placed under judicial supervision, his lawyer told BFMTV that his client was “not well” and that he had “just done his job”.

“It’s quite shocking.” Guest of BFMTV this Friday evening, Laurent-Franck Liénard, the lawyer for the three police officers suspected of having hit a scooter on board which were three teenagers last week in Paris, reacted to the indictment of the driver of the vehicle.

The police officer was indicted and placed under judicial control for violence with a weapon by a person holding public authority which resulted in incapacity for work of more than eight days for two of the minors and less than eight days for the third.

“He only did his job. Maybe he made a mistake, maybe he caused an accident, we will discuss it in court time”, defended his lawyer on our antenna.

According to Laurent-Franck Liénard, his clients and the investigation are under “shocking” media pressure, not respecting the presumption of innocence and the secrecy of the investigation.

Two other police officers released

The two other police custody members of the police crew were lifted this Friday evening, without prosecution at this stage of the investigation.

Their lawyer then described men “exhausted” by more than a day in police custody. “For some, they had done absolutely nothing”, being passengers of the vehicle, he lamented.

“They were exhausted by the facts. They saw this scooter fall. They were there. Can you think that they imagined an assassination?”, He protested.

A minor still hospitalized

On April 13, a scooter ridden by three minors aged 17, 14 and 13, one of whom was not wearing a helmet, was chased by a police car and fell.

If the police headquarters indicated on Tuesday that the police had wanted to “proceed with the control” of the scooter but that the driver of the latter had “refused to stop”, a woman presenting herself as a witness of the facts ensures that the police vehicle crashed into the two-wheeler.

The 17-year-old scooter driver was hospitalized in serious condition. Friday, his vital prognosis was no longer engaged, according to the prosecution. His 13-year-old brother was injured in the liver and another passenger, aged 14, was hit in the knee.
