Global leaders condemn assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump

Trump’s campaign said the presumptive Republican presidential nominee was “doing fine” after being evacuated from the scene during a shooting in which a bullet pierced the top of his right ear.

The Secret Service said it killed the attacker, who fired from an elevated position outside the rally grounds.

U.S. authorities were still investigating the shooting.

Albania

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said on social media X that it was “distressing” to see Trump being shot while speaking at a rally and to hear that an attendee had been killed.

“This is a tragedy for the democratic world,” he said.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese condemned the assassination attempt as an inexcusable attack on democratic values ​​shared by Australia and the United States.

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre wrote on X that he was saddened by the attack and condemned political violence in all its forms.
