MIAMI – The Mexican singer Gloria Trevi released her new song “Medusa” this Friday, her first single as an independent artist and which is sustained in a “techno dance” sound, as a statement said.

Recorded between Madrid and Miami, the song, which also has a video clip, is now available on all digital music platforms under the label of the performer Great Talent Records.

“Medusa” was composed by the singer herself and also bears the signature of Bruno Fernández, Manu Chalud, Yoby Zúñiga, and Milton J. Restituyo, and was produced by well-known producers Dabruk, Manu Chalud and Alcover.

According to the statement, the song’s lyrics “revolve around a woman who lost her light after being betrayed, transforming into a stronger woman, or a jellyfish, to protect herself from evil.”

Trevi, 55 years old and in the midst of “a difficult moment in his personal life”, as the note highlights, “he sought comfort and refuge in the best thing he knows how to do: music.”

“A friend who was with me took me a little deeper into the mythological history of this character, among all of us in the studio we investigated more about this legend of Greek mythology. I was surprised to feel so identified with her,” said the artist about the Medusa character.

“Within how many people does a Medusa live? Definitely, this mythological figure deserves to have her story told from another angle, in which her punishment makes her dangerous, powerful since she is enchanted… and the men who see her get hard … of rock”, added the Mexican.

“They throw you, they step on you, they lie to you/And they want you to apologize/They turned their backs on me/And not their heart,” says the song’s lyrics.

Characterized as Medusa in the video that will be presented today through Tik Tok Live and YouTube Premiere, and which was shot in Miami, Trevi “crosses thresholds of space and time visiting different eras and cities.”

So far in 2023, Gloria Trevi not only became “the highest grossing woman in Mexico”, but she continues to demonstrate her relevance, strength on stage and popularity with sold-out sales in Mexico and Latin America, the statement added.
