Her story impresses everyone.

In week twelve at “ Germany’s Next Topmodel” is all about music. Divided into small groups, the model candidates embodied the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. A challenge that some Candidates mastered with a power performance, others fought against self-doubt.

While model mom Heidi Klum (49) even picked up the guitar herself and happily strummed away, model Mirella (21) initially had inhibitions about presenting herself carefree on stage and singing along loudly.

Her big moment: She reported that she grew up as a boy – and revealed the experience after which she was absolutely sure that she wanted to live as a woman forever.

Mirella suffers from her voice

Klum was particularly looking forward to this photo shoot: Like a rock star, she posed with a guitar and had fun with it. Olivia (22), Vivien (23) and Mirella reacted with similar enthusiasm: they were supposed to embody the 1970s for the shoot and perform the song “We are family” by Sister Sledge. A title that Mirella raved about: “We are all so diverse. I know that in the trans community people call each other ‘sisters’. It’s kinda totally mine.”

Shortly thereafter, she reported on her own childhood, which she lived as a boy: “It is that I was born a boy. Then it got to the point where I had to decide whether I would live my life as an unhappy boy or as a happy girl.” Mirella’s transition came at age 15, and it didn’t take the whole family equally: “My father fell himself it’s very difficult to deal with at first. To this day, I think I’m known as his son in his circle.”

However, Mirella’s performance with her model colleagues did not exactly cause enthusiasm for Heidi and her co-juror Thomas Hayo (54). Although Mirella had showcased an impressive singing voice behind the scenes, she came across as shy and reserved during this performance. Heidi wanted to know: “Why didn’t you dare?”

Mirella had deliberately held back her voice – she finds it too deep: “I didn’t want to sing deeply because that’s something that has accompanied me all my life. There was a point where my voice broke.”

Of course, Heidi and Thomas noticed their inhibitions. Heidi criticized: “You didn’t really let yourself go.” Although it worked better on the second try, Mirella was frustrated: “Today I was the weakest of all. I was overshadowed.”

Buying a sweater became an aha experience

However, the next hopeful moment followed shortly after: Together with Selma (18), Ida (23) and Katherine (20), Mirella was allowed to take part in a casting for a new popcorn. The Emmi brand was looking for a brand ambassador and wanted the Models know what was the most defining moment in their lives.

Mirella’s shyness was suddenly swept away – she decided to unpack everything: “I thought to myself: F *** it. I’m going to tell you who I am, and you either like it or you don’t.”

She revealed to customers that she grew up as a boy – and now she explains which situation has remained in her memory forever: “I was shopping with my best friend at the time and a sweater embroidered with glitter sequins caught my eye . But I would never have dared to take it with me because that would have heralded such a big change.”

That day, her friend persuaded her to try on the sweater, giving Mirella an aha moment: “I’ll say that at that moment I not only decided on this sweater, but also for myself and to a certain extent for her my freedom. That was my big moment!”

Maike has to leave GNTM

Although Selma got the job, Mirella seemed more relaxed afterwards. This was also evident in her walk, the Heidi Klum knocked his socks off: “You were one of the best today. You ran so well. I got goosebumps!” Thomas Hayo agreed: “You couldn’t have done this walk any better.”

The rating for Maike (23) was much more negative. Not only did she make a rather mediocre impression in her 80s performance, but she also received a lot of criticism for her walk. Thomas Hayo complained: “Your arms didn’t swing easily.” Heidi complained: “It’s so bumpy and stumbling.”

It followed that GNTM-It’s over for Maike, who let her tears run free, but still thanked everyone: “Nobody can take this experience away from me anymore. I had a really good time.”
