Xiaomi’s new set-up box will come with Google TV. As there is an operating system migration from Android TV to Google TV on new smart TVs, Xiaomi decided to do the same with its new decoder, which will feature updated specifications, in addition to a new design.

Xiaomi was one of the first companies to launch an Android TV set-top box with the Mi Box in 2016. As its price was affordable and cost-effective, the company launched new models. In 2018, Mi Box S was launched and now the Chinese smartphone maker is preparing to bring Xiaomi TV Box S 4K.

The Xiaomi TV Box S 4K will arrive with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of storage, in addition to 4K output with support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos. Unfortunately, the model of the processor was not mentioned, but it says that it is a quad-core chip that uses A55 cores. Regarding the ports, we will have an HDMI 2.1 port, a USB 2.0 port and a 3.5mm output (P2).

The remote control design has also been updated. Now there’s a button for Google Assistant, one for “Xiaomi TV+” and others for faster access to some apps. There are shortcut buttons for Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, as well as a button to access the list of apps. The operation of the control occurs through Bluetooth and infrared as well.

What most stands out about the new Xiaomi TV Box S 4K is its operating system, Google TV. It is believed that a version based on Android TV 11 is used.

Release and availability

The Xiaomi TV Box S 4K does not yet have a release date or price. It is believed that the decoder comes for US$ 59, the price of the Mi Box S.
