The famous navigation application has been considerably enriched in recent weeks. We think in particular of the arrival of Immersive View, a feature that is revolutionizing exploration on Google Maps. Always with a view to making navigation more practical, Google has just integrated new features that will greatly streamline your visits to the major national parks.

When you search for a trail, Google Maps will highlight the entire route on the map, instead of just pinning it. Enough to allow users to easily identify the start and end of a trail and to know what the route looks like. Thanks to the Maps community, you’ll be able to check reviews to find out what type of trail it is, how difficult it is, and whether it’s suitable for walking, running, or biking.

Google Maps: how to easily find trailheads?

Another novelty, the parks’ places of interest (attractions, campsites, reception centres, trailheads, etc.) are now better identified on the map. Each place is embellished with photos, opinions and practical information which allows you to prepare your visit. Also, park entrances are now highlighted on the map. If you’re looking for walking or biking directions to a particular trail, Maps will direct you directly to the trailhead.

Finally, Google includes a “Download” button that will allow you to view the park map in offline mode. This is useful for locating in areas where mobile data is absent. “These features will arrive in all US national parks in April and will roll out to parks around the world in the coming months”Google traffic.

In the meantime, you can already take advantage of this handy new Google Maps feature.
