The Prime Minister, Aïmene Benabderrahmane, chaired today, Wednesday April 26, 2023, a meeting of the Government devoted to the sectors of higher education, digitization and statistics, but also hydraulics, indicates a press release from the Prime Minister’s Office.

In the field of higher education, the Government heard a communication from the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research on the plan to organize national meetings on the reform and modernization of higher education.

The forthcoming organization of these meetings is part of the implementation of the orientations of the President of the Republic, given during the Council of Ministers of February 5, 2023, aimed at revising the higher education system according to a consensual vision. of the university family.

While concerning digitization and statistics, the Government heard a communication from the Minister of Digitization and Statistics on statistics relating to economic accounts in Algeria.

The communication drew up an inventory of the statistical system relating to the national economic accounts and exposed the constraints it faces as well as the solutions for its improvement.

What about the field of hydraulics?

The Government heard a joint communication from the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Minister of Hydraulics on the measures taken to mitigate the water stress impacting agricultural perimeters.

This communication is part of the ongoing monitoring of strategic crops contributing to ensuring national food security with a view to taking the necessary corrective measures, in particular those relating to the cereal campaign which is subject to rigorous monitoring by the national set up at the level of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

In this context, emergency measures have been adopted in favor of farmers, in particular through the use of supplementary irrigation and the drilling of wells with the use of water-saving irrigation systems which allow save up to 70% of this water resource and achieve better results.

In the same context, the Minister of Hydraulics presented a communication on the emergency drinking water supply program and the measures taken to alleviate water stress in the wilayas concerned.

The presentation focused on the state of execution of the emergency program adopted at the Government meeting of January 11, 2023, which concerns 19 wilayas, in order to ensure a regular supply of drinking water to the population during the current year.

The communication also made it possible to examine the state of progress of the projects in progress aimed at guaranteeing water security in the short and medium terms”.
