Government of Chihuahua files constitutional dispute against textbooks

MEXICO CITY (proceso.com.mx).- The governor of Chihuahua, Maru Campos, filed a constitutional controversy against the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) to prevent the distribution of free textbooks, which, she said, have “a high ideologising content” and are “garbage”.

According to the PAN governor, the content of the books undermines the freedom of families, human rights and institutions, reported El Financiero.

The constitutional controversy was received in the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) on Friday.

The president had already announced that she would stop the distribution of books in the state because, she says, they promote communist ideology.

“Various ways will be sought for children to continue learning,” he said, and described the textbooks as “garbage.”

“That children are not forced to think with a certain ideology, that children are not forced to believe in certain living conditions,” he said.

He told the media that they can ask parents if they want to receive this “garbage” of textbooks that have not been officially released.
