After the claims of the governor of Chihuahua, María Eugenia Campos, who last week demanded that the federal government stop the migratory flow and that it address the crisis for people on the move, this Monday she met with the commissioner of the National Institute of Migration , Francisco Garduño.

The meeting took place one day before a hearing is held in the Federal Judiciary, in which the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) will seek to charge Garduño with the crime of illegal exercise of public service.

Regarding the meeting, the Secretary General of the Government, Santiago De la Peña, reported that it lasted approximately two hours, where they discussed the attention to Juarez citizens in the presence of migrants at the border.

The meeting between the Governor and Garduño was held at the State Government facilities, on Lincoln Avenue.

“A permanent dialogue was offered and it was also offered to identify which are the points where we should collaborate without ceasing to recognize that this is an exclusive power of the federal Government and that the participation of the State Government will always be in support of these exclusive powers of the Federation,” declared De la Peña.

“The first responsibility of the State Government is to respond to Juarez and that is why this meeting was requested,” he said.

He stressed that there was a dialogue on the effects and causes of migration, a topic that has been insisted on, it is necessary for the federal government to define a migration policy.

“The flow of migrants must be contained, orderly, so that we too can respond to the citizens of this great state of Chihuahua,” De la Peña said.

The official indicated that it will surely be the first of several meetings that will be held to discuss the situation of people on the move in Ciudad Juárez.

According to De la Peña, the actions of the state government have always been carried out within a framework of respect for human rights.

The meeting was attended by the state government, in addition to De la Peña; Gilberto Loya, Secretary of Public Security; Luis Serrato Castell, Secretary of Cabinet Coordination; César Jáuregui Moreno, State Attorney General, as well as Óscar Ibáñez Hernández, representative of the Northern Zone State Government.

The National Migration Institute was represented by Commissioner Francisco Garduño, as well as Héctor Martínez Castuera, General Director of Coordination of Representative Offices of the Institute, among other officials.
