Schools informed families via email

Many schools in Essen informed the families on Tuesday evening with circular e-mails: “We keep our fingers crossed for you and wish you a successful preparation and a good start with the first exams on Thursday”, wrote the management of the Maria-Wächtler- Gymnasium (Rüttenscheid) to all high school students.

The “Brotzeit” project ensures that volunteers prepare a free breakfast for the school children in the morning. Irrespective of the new problems with the Abitur, State Secretary Urban Mauer will attend the appointment at the Essen elementary school, according to a statement from Düsseldorf. The school minister has scheduled a press conference in Düsseldorf for eleven o’clock in the morning. The short-term complete postponement of an entire written exam day for the Abitur is unprecedented in the history of the central Abitur in NRW. The central Abitur in North Rhine-Westphalia was introduced in 2007.
