Will a PC port of Gran Turismo 7 see the light of day? Is it already in development? Kazunori Yamauchi dots the i’s, crosses the T’s and plays the handbrake.

What will be the next PlayStation Studios game ported to PC after Returnal? Not Gran Turismo 7…or maybe it is? It is complicated.

A PC port of Gran Turismo 7

Is Gran Turismo 7 really on the way to PC? And first of all, why this question? We have to go back a little with an interview with Kazunori Yamauchi, illustrious father of the franchise, at the microphone of GT Planet. Asked by the site about a PC port of the latest game, the creator then replied:

Yes I think so. But GT7 is a finely optimized title. There aren’t many platforms that could run it in native 4K at 60fps. So one of the ways to achieve this result is to reduce the number of platforms on which it is available. It’s not a very easy subject, but of course we think about it and consider it.

Via GT Planet.

What is the problem ? These remarks visibly spread in mode “we are studying and a PC version of Gran Turismo 7 is in the pipeline”. Misunderstanding, bad translation or mixture of different things, Kazunori Yamauchi clarifies what he meant.

It’s not true. Regarding a PC version, I replied that as a developer, it’s not that I haven’t considered all the possibilities. It means that the probability of it happening is not zero, but if you simply ask me “are you doing anything concrete at this level”, I don’t do anything. There is no subject.

So for now, move on, Gran Turismo 7 isn’t coming to PC. But maybe in a few years…
