The inconvenience caused by the GTA 5 singleplayer crashes complained by players between the end of last year and the beginning of 2023 were not enough, reports of GTA Online PC players claiming to have been banned due to a serious exploit.

The situation would seem to be so serious as to induce the well-known content creator and insider Tez2 to become the spokesperson for the community’s complaints by publicly reporting this problem as “extremely serious”.

Based on user testimonials, the exploit that would be currently affecting only one PC version of GTA Online would be able to open a hole in the account security system that would allow hackers to remotely add, delete or edit profile statistics affected by this attack, thus leading to the compromise of the data and, in the most serious cases, their ban.

Some players report on social media that they have stumbled upon this serious exploit and testify to everything by showing what happens to their accounts after having suffered this attack, i.e. the absolute unable to log back into GTA Online servers due to the ban triggered due to ‘suspicious movements’ recorded by the account.

Pending an intervention from Rockstar Games, Tez2 therefore advises all owners of a PC copy of GTA 5 or GTA Online to do not access multiplayer servers without a firewall (or not to access online lobbies at all) until this dangerous security hole is closed.
