CDMX.- Those who came to see Pinocchio, by Guillermo del Toro, in the capital’s Zócalo, were amazed by the twists in the story, although it was difficult for them to fully immerse themselves in the film due to the noises and shouts of the popular Christmas festival.

There were around 1,200 people who accessed the area of chairs arranged by the Government of Mexico City next to the main stage of the main plate of the first capital square.

And they were the same ones who were delighted by the story co-directed by Mark Gustafson from Guadalajara, since most of them stayed until the end and went from expressions of astonishment like “aaah” and “uuuhhh” to “nooooo” and “yessss.” “.

Although the function would start at 6:00 p.m., it was until a few minutes before they let people in, and until all the attendees were accommodated, they began with the first, second and third call. Pinocchio, by Guillermo del Toro, began at 7:00 p.m.

Under the cloudy sky, and with the cold of the season, most of the people who attended were bundled up and drinking water or soda. Some bought popcorn for ten pesos, or apples with chamoy for 25.

All the decorations in the surrounding area were turned off to improve the visibility of the feature film, including the monumental piñata hung on November 20 and the festival stands. Most of the vendors did so reluctantly, as that scared away customers. What they did not turn off were the lights of the National Palace and the rest of the buildings.

Something that caught the attention of the users was that from the beginning, there were people who directed reflectors with green or white light towards the screen, and it was annoying every time they did so. Several of the security guards said that it was done to prevent piracy or network transmissions, and others, that they could be spectators who were there just to do bad things.

Since the function was announced, it was requested that no videos or photos of the screen be broadcast, but many people uploaded their visit to the place on the networks, with the film included. And several of those who sat down wore headbands of lights and luminous globes that obscured the vision of others.

The sellers continued, shouting, trying to place their product, and it was heard during the transmission of the film. The “tacos”, “soft drinks”, “balloons” and “caps” were mixed with the sounds and voices of the feature film.

Until now there is no official attendance report, but about 1,500 chairs were arranged before 5:00 p.m., and some 350 were removed shortly before 6:00 p.m. The Christmas festival was attended by 10,000 people.
