Colo Colo had his last training session on Tuesday before facing Monagas for the Copa Libertadores. The headaches for coach Gustavo Quinteros have been present, as a result of the large number of injuries that he presents for the next games, where most of them have to do with the reinforcements that have arrived at the institution.

The coach attended the press conference on Tuesday prior to the match that they will have tomorrow against the Venezuelan club, where he referred to the injured that have presented in recent days considering the sensitive loss that they will have with Matías de los Santos, who will be out for several months of activity.

Quinteros suffers with injuries

Gustavo Quinteros does not have a good time regarding the casualties he presents in his squad, where he contemplates the absences of Fabián Castillo, Erick Wiemberg, Darío Lezcano, Matías de los Santos, among others. In turn, he clarified that there are other sports elements that are getting in their best physical shape to face these challenges.

The truth is that, generally speaking, this was a tough season for us in that sense.. Today we have Castillo, Wiemberg, Lezcano, de los Santos, getting better Palacios, Moya was injured. Five players who arrived are out and injured, some for a long time. It’s amazing that this happens”, he began by pointing out.

Along the same lines, the coach said that “we will try to help each one, from the medical staff try to recover Matías as soon as possible. He was coming off a hip injury and in the warm-up he felt discomfort in his knee. So since it was not a game play, at that moment he could not be tested and he thought that he could play since it was nothing serious ”.

Furthermore, he added that “after the game it was determined that a piece of cartilage was detached from his knee, nothing to do with the hip injury he had been treating. It is something that happens, which is hurting us a lot with several players. Although the team has improved and we have a better game than before, we are missing those four or five players who came in their best version so that the team can be much stronger”.

Finally, regarding the injured, he pointed out that “we hope that we can achieve it soon and that we can recover several of them before all these important games. We know that Matías will have it for perhaps a month and a half, Castillo for 20 more days or a month, Lezcano for one more week, Wiemberg for another week or 10 days.

The expulsion of Leo Gil

But that was not all, because another of the issues that the coach touched on has to do with the expulsions that have become a severe headache. Leonardo Gil, who had to go to the dressing room early in the Cacique’s last gamethey forced the team to take shelter, take precautions and harm the game system they were presenting.

“We have a history. There are two games where we are left with one less being able to avoid it. One was against Everton, where we were coming along very well and ended up with one less player in the last 15 minutes, losing our chances of winning the game. And now the same. 11 against 11, Colo Colo was better, he created clear chances in the first 30 minutes and after the expulsion we had to go back on the fieldless arrivals in attack”.

Finally, he sentenced everything by pointing out that “that expulsion could have been avoided and hurt the team. When there is an expulsion in this way and there is a player who can contribute situations or generate things in the same way, it is likely that there will be a change. The players know that what they don’t have to do is harm the team and they have to always try to enter and leave with 11. All non-soccer situations are handled by us”.
