Hail, floods and heavy rains: the pattern of severe storms is repeated in much of Colorado

DENVER, Colorado – A new round of severe storms will impact much of Colorado, following the same weather pattern experienced Thursday. These storms are expected to develop after noon in the mountainous areas and then move towards the lowlands.

The greatest risk associated with these storms is the possibility of hail and flash flooding. The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning that will be in effect through Sunday morning for certain areas of Northeast Colorado.

In addition, the presence of heavy rains is expected and there is the possibility of flooding in low-lying areas, as well as in smaller streams and streams. It is strongly recommended to avoid flooded roads and never attempt to cross areas of standing water while driving.

Here is a more detailed forecast for the next few days:

  • This afternoon: Chance of showers and thunderstorms. High near 71. North northwest wind around 10 mph. Precipitation probability 80%.
  • Tonight: 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9pm. Mostly cloudy, then gradually clear. Low around 52. North northwest wind between 6 and 10 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.
  • Saturday: Sunny, high near 79. North northwest wind between 6 and 13 mph.
  • Saturday night: mostly clear, low around 58. North northeast wind 8 to 10 mph becoming southwest.
  • Sunday: sunny, high near 85. North northwest wind between 7 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.
  • Sunday night: Partly cloudy, low around 58.
  • Monday: Sunny, high near 88.
  • Monday night: Partly cloudy, low around 61.
  • Independence Day: Chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, high near 87.
  • Tuesday night: Chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, low around 57.
  • Wednesday: Chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, high near 73.
  • Wednesday night: Chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, low around 57.
  • Thursday: Chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, high near 77.
