The Hajj season for the year 2023 is fast approaching and Algerians are already beginning to prepare to perform this ritual. In addition, this new season will see a return to normal, at least that is what emerges from the announcements made by the Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah, on the occasion of the Hajj expo 2023 exhibition.

After announcing that women will no longer need a Mahram to perform the Hajj ritual, in other words, they are no longer required to be accompanied to perform this ritual. The Saudi authorities have just made new announcements concerning the pilgrims.

Hajj 2023: Saudi Arabia lifts restrictions on the number and age of pilgrims

Indeed, Tawfiq AI-Rabiah, Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah, announced that for the 2023 season, the number of pilgrims will be the same as before the Covid-19 pandemic. That is some 2.5 million pilgrims in the world.

In addition, this same minister announced the lifting of another restriction. In particular that concerning the age limit of the pilgrim. As a reminder, last year, the maximum age limit for performing this ritual was set at 65 years. With the lifting of this new measure, many candidates will be weary and will be delighted with this news.

Another announcement was made regarding the cost of insurance for pilgrims. According to the Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah, these fees will be reduced by 73%. Thus, insurance costs will drop from 109 to 29 Riyals, a difference that corresponds to 3,000 Algerian dinars. Umrah insurance costs will also be reduced by 63%.

In addition, the Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah also announced that people with an Umrah visa will be able to go sightseeing and visit the different cities of the kingdom.
