Hajj is fast approaching, and Muslims around the world are preparing to perform this ritual. As part of the preparations for the organization of the next Hajj season, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced in a tweet on January 5, 2023 the steps to register for Hajj on the official MoHU website or Nusuk app.
With this announcement, all the steps have been mentioned. At the same time, the Saudi authorities therefore indicated that women would no longer need a Mahram. They are no longer obliged to be accompanied by their husband, their brother, their father or their son.

Indeed, according to these same steps we notice that at step number 5, the addition of the guide is optional. This news should relieve many, because for a long time women were unable to perform this sacred ritual if they were not accompanied.
Note that registrations for pilgrims residing in the interior of the country are already open thanks to this same site, and the minimum age has been set at 12 years minimum for national pilgrims this year.

Hajj 2023: negotiation for the increase of Algeria’s quota

Algerians have been unable to perform their Hajj for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and despite resuming last year, the number of Algerian citizens allowed to perform the ritual is still quite limited.
About twenty days ago, more precisely on Thursday, December 15, 2022, the minister announced negotiations with Saudi officials with the aim of reviewing Algeria’s quota in anticipation of Hajj 2023. It was during a plenary session devoted to oral questions to the Council of the Nation that Youcef Belmahdi noted the objectives to be achieved.
He therefore announced that the goal was to reach 40,300 people next season.
