The actress notably staged two major chapters of this season 5, the second with Fred’s funeral and the finale, where her character finds herself on the run in the middle of a crowded station. In an interview given to the American site TVLine in November 2022, the British-American actress went behind the scenes of this heartbreaking scene for viewers, filmed in the midst of a health crisis. “There were 500 actors, it was the most extras we’ve ever had in the series (…) It’s a lot, especially when all these people have to be tested for Covid and the protocols have to be respected“, she says. Furthermore, the team could only shoot from midnight on a Saturday evening, and film the entire sequence in just seven hours.

In addition to having to meet filming deadlines and familiarize herself with the environment of a Toronto subway station, Elisabeth Moss had to ensure that all takes were properly recorded. “We did the most camera setups we’ve ever done in the history of the show. It was enormous pressure. We kept making plans, plans, plans, plans, until we got them and we had everything we needed“, remembers the actress.
