The bodies of two babies were found in an apartment in Rumilly (Haute-Savoie) during an intervention by the gendarmerie, the Annecy prosecutor told AFP on Friday.
According to The Liberated Dauphine, which revealed the information, the discovery took place on New Year’s Day, this Sunday, in the accommodation of a family after an alarming call for help from the mother. The bodies were found in a skeletal state for one and mummified for the other, according to daily information, which evokes a woman in deep psychological distress.
A seal placed on the door reported an intervention on January 1 for “aggravated intentional homicide”, noted AFP journalists.
However, at this stage, no judicial investigation has been opened, said prosecutor Line Bonnet-Mathis, who did not wish to give more details, pending a press release later in the day. According to several media, the mother of the family was hospitalized.
“Horror” and “amazement” in the neighborhood
In the neighborhood, the neighbors interviewed by AFP oscillated between shock and incomprehension. The family lived on the top floor of a well-maintained residence of four, surrounded by trees, and which is part of a complex within a residential estate.
“We are sick, we are shocked,” said a 56-year-old neighbor. According to her, the family concerned has two children of approximately three years and one year, and had arrived in the building approximately three years ago.
“It’s a very good neighborhood, overnight we hear that, we were surprised,” said another neighbor, Zine Hadjou, 75, who had never met the family.
Alexia Tisserant, who walks with her infant in a stroller, felt a sense of “horror” and “astonishment”: “fear, misunderstanding, a little hatred”, says the young mother of 27 years. “I don’t understand”.
The testimonies of the immediate neighbors seemed to describe a discreet woman. “I said hello to him, goodbye,” says a 53-year-old neighbor, who describes a “normal” woman.
