Mexico City.- In Arizona, United States, an elderly man was detained by US authorities for shooting a Mexican migrant to death on Monday, January 30.

According to a Sonora media outlet, the detainee identified as George Alan Kelly, 73 years old, murdered the Mexican Gabriel Cuen-Butimea because he walked into a huge ranch belonging to the elderly Kelly.

The US police found among Gabriel’s belongings a credential from the National Electoral Institute (INE), which resides in the state of Sonora, in the municipality of Nogales, a place that has the same name as the area where the murder occurred, according to the NY Post.

After the murder at George Alan’s ranch, the police arrested the elderly man, and set a bail of 1 million dollars so that he can leave jail.

According to information from El Heraldo, George Kelly appealed against the measure and assured that it is important that he return to his ranch in Arizona, since his wife is alone and without security.

“She is out there all by herself… no one to take care of her, the cattle or the ranch,” said the elderly American.

An element of the police mentioned to Nogales International that it was an emergency call that took them to Kelly’s ranch, as one of the neighbors reported that “there was an active shooter” and that there were many people running around. Upon arriving at the ranch, they found the body of the Mexican migrant lying on the ground.

Until now, the true causes for which the old man killed Gabriel are unknown, since the authorities only limited themselves to saying that “it does not appear that Mr. Kelly and the deceased knew each other” and they continue to carry out investigations to clarify the case.
