A little over a year after being arrested in control of a vehicle sheathed with almost 30 kilos of marijuana, a young man from Buenos Aires admitted his guilt in an abbreviated trial and received a four-year prison sentence, plus a $10,000 fine.
This is Juan Carlos Villaverde Arce (23), and although the sentence was imposed by the Federal Court of Corrientes, the crime that led him to prison was connected to Misiones because he had left with the drug from the town of Montecarlo .
His final destination was an address in the town of Vicente López, province of Buenos Aires, but the maneuver was detected in a National Gendarmerie control on national route 14 in Santo Tomé, Corrientes, on December 1, 2021.
The information recorded in the case file shows that Villaverde Arce had left the northern missionary town driving a Renault Fluence, with which he arrived at the fixed Gendarmerie checkpoint at Cuay Grande at 7:15 a.m.
Once parked, the uniformed officers requested the car’s documentation to then carry out a physical control of it. “In this state of situation, the officers were struck by the fact that the driver was carrying few travel items, so these bags were removed and, at that moment, a damage was observed in the trunk in the passenger compartment of the vehicle. spare wheel, as well as fresh paint stains were detected on the corduroy that covers the aforementioned auxiliary wheel,” the federal force detailed.
These indications were enough to intervene the dog trained to detect narcotics, which insistently marked the area of the trunk.
After disarming part of the rear structure, the feds detected dozens of packages of marijuana smeared with car grease in different spaces (double bottom). They finally extracted 69 rectangular packages of different sizes and shapes that yielded a total weight of 29,442 kilograms.
Finally now Villaverde Arce admitted his guilt before the one-person court in charge of Judge Fermín Amado Ceroleni, accepting the sentence imposed. The official defender Javier Ernesto Carnevalli took charge of his defense, while the accusation was formulated by the prosecutor Carlos Adolfo Schaeffer.
