An Oregon man who rigged the home he lost with an “Indiana Jones”-inspired trap has been found guilty of charges stemming from a 2018 incident in which a federal agent was injured, authorities said Tuesday.

The trap included a “round hot tub that was on its side ready to roll down the hill.”

A federal jury in Medford found Gregory Lee Rodvelt, 71, guilty of assaulting a federal officer and using and discharging a firearm during and in connection with a crime of violence, the Oregon federal attorney’s office said in a release.

Rodvelt had lost his home in a lawsuit, and after “he found out they were going to sell the property, he proceeded to set him up,” federal prosecutors said.

The man faces up to 20 years behind bars when sentenced, prosecutors said, though defense attorney Benjamin Kim said Wednesday: “That’s an unrealistic maximum.”
