Neighbors of the El Retiro neighborhood expressed their concern about the armed clashes that have been taking place in recent days between two gangs that dispute the business of selling drugs in that part of the city. In this context, this Saturday a 64-year-old neighbor received shot in the waist when he was watching television in the living room of his house at 161 and 52. Meanwhile, a young man who would be involved in the conflict was injured in one of his legs, at the level of the groin.
According to the testimony of the victim’s daughters, everything happened when the man heard the noise and went to the window to see what was happening. At that moment he felt a strong burning in the waist and immediately realized that the projectile had gone through the facade of his sheet metal and wood box. “She was watching TV, she wanted to stop to see what was happening outside and she felt a burning sensation in her waist. Like something had burned it. Right away she realized that she had a shot on her”, stated one of the man’s daughters in the complaint.
As a result of the shot, the wound began to bleed and the subject was left lying on the ground. Immediately, his relatives called 911 and 107 to give notice of what was happening. A patrolman appeared at the scene and transferred the victim to the Melchor Romero hospital.
The specialists who treated him found that the projectile fortunately had not affected any vital organs.
It should be noted that while the authorities were collecting more information about the event, residents of the area reported that a 20-year-old man was shot in the leg, at groin level. The injured man was transferred by a motorist to the Los Hornos Prompt Assistance Unit (UPA) but was later transferred to the San Martín polyclinic. They assure that both the driver and the victim would be members of one of the gangs that dispute power in the area.
The case was left in the hands of the La Plata prosecutor’s office, in charge of Alvaro Gargantaand was labeled as “gun abuse and injury”.
Regarding the alleged attackers, the witnesses to the shooting indicated that they were traveling in a gray car, from which at least five people got out and fired on a bunker that operates in the El Retiro neighborhood. “It was hell. They never stop shooting“said the neighbors.
In turn, they indicated that the armed confrontations were a constant during the last week and they ask for more police controls so as not to have to regret a tragedy. “Here we all know perfectly who is who and the Police do the same. I don’t know. one thinks wrong”, complained a person who had to take shelter from the shots.
Finally, relatives of the injured man explained that, during the shooting, the 64-year-old man was with his underage nephews. “They were in a small wooden kitchen watching TV and the shooting started.
