Thanks to a commanding 8:1 win against the Innsbrucker Haie and the simultaneous defeat of Kufstein, SC SAMINA Hohenems will start the new year as the leader of the Austrian ice hockey league.

Hohenems. In the last game of the year, the Ems hockey cracks faced the Junghaie from Innsbruck and the Steinbocks started the game with a lot of speed. After just 39 seconds, Martin Grabher Meier gave the home side a 1-0 lead and it was the Lustenau veteran who made it 2-0 for HSC in the tenth minute. Innsbruck found the perfect answer in a manpower game and Sandro Wille scored the 1:2 goal in the 15th minute. But just under two minutes later, Julian Grafschafter – also in the majority – restored Hohenems’ two-goal lead.

In the middle section, the young cracks from the Tyrolean capital fought self-sacrificingly against the experienced Emser, but could not set any major accents and so the Hohenemser played on, waited for their chances and took them. With an early goal by Christian Haidinger and another goal by captain Pascal Kainz, the hosts increased the score to 5:1 after the second period.

Also in the last third there were no big playful actions and so Marcel Wolf, Martin Grabher Meier with his third direct hit and Johannes Hehle ensured a clear 8:1 victory for the HSC in the end. Due to the simultaneous defeat of Kufstein against Wattens, the Emser start the new year as table leaders.
