The State Health Council unanimously approves the conclusion of the health emergency status by COVID-19 in the state of Chihuahua, in accordance with the guidelines of the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health of the government of the republic.
During the development of the first session of this year, the members of this collegiate body agreed to keep the campaign focused on promoting the voluntary use of face masks, when there are symptoms of the disease or in risk spaces suitable for the transmission of the virus.
They also established to continue with the dissemination among the population of preventive measures such as hand washing, to prevent the spread of the virus.
Heading the meeting that was held at the Government Palace, Governor Maru Campos took the opportunity to formally introduce Gilberto Baeza Mendoza, who recently officially took over as Secretary of Health.
The head of the Executive stated that she will maintain close coordination with the members of the Council, an organization that, although it was created during the COVID-19 pandemic, its operation is necessary for society.
He stressed to those present the importance of establishing public policies on health and in an intersectoral manner, necessary for the treatment of issues such as addiction care, mental health, prevention, among others.
The health secretary, Gilberto Baeza Mendoza, pointed out that the purpose of the Council should be to ensure strategies that benefit citizens and reiterated his commitment to work hand in hand with public and private institutions, to strengthen ties and actions that guarantee a best service and health care for Chihuahuans.
During the development of the meeting, a review was made on the behavior of the cases, hospitalizations and fatality, registered from the beginning of the pandemic until today that the emergency ends.
The director of Disease Prevention and Control, Leticia Ruiz González, indicated that since May 2022 she has maintained a stable behavior thanks to vaccination and acquired immunity.
He also said that at the state level, vaccination coverage for people over 18 years of age reached 92 percent.
