Heat notice issued for 17 municipalities

The National Meteorological Service issued a heat advisory this Saturday for San Juan, Bayamón, Carolina, Cataño, Guaynabo, Toa Alta, Toa Baja, Trujillo Alto, Arecibo, Barceloneta, Dorado, Florida, Manatí, Vega Alta, Vega Baja, Culebra and Vieques.

The advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

During this period, heat index values ​​of 108 to 111 degrees Fahrenheit are expected. Under these conditions, heat exhaustion is possible with prolonged exposure, as is heat stroke.

For today, sunny skies are expected in the morning, followed by a partly cloudy afternoon with isolated showers. Highs will reach around 92 degrees Fahrenheit, but will subside in the afternoon. Winds from the east are forecast at 15 to 20 miles per hour, with gusts up to 30 miles per hour. The chance of rain will be 20 percent.

In the evening, isolated thunderstorms are forecast in the evening. Skies will be partly cloudy with scattered showers. Low temperatures will be around 84 degrees Fahrenheit, with easterly winds at 10 to 15 miles per hour. The chance of rain will be 50 percent.
