Oil heating and heat pumps go well together and are even subsidized by the state as hybrid heating. What consumers should consider.
The oil heater is a discontinued model. The reason for this is not only climate protection – because the running costs of oil heating are also significantly higher compared to heat pumps. Especially since the development of heating oil prices in Germany tends to go up. Several experts are also making a gloomy forecast for the price of heating oil in 2023. But the truth is that around ten million households still heat their homes with heating oil – a large number of them will probably have to convert in the coming years.
Renew oil heating: replacement obligation is approaching – consumers have these options
Various laws alone ensure this. New oil heaters may only be installed until the end of 2025. Then that’s the end of it. Boilers that are more than 30 years old are subject to an obligation to replace old gas and oil heating systems. There should only be a few exceptions. Combination of oil heating and heat pump: Who benefits from the hybrid heating
Heat pumps are becoming increasingly popular as an alternative to oil heating. According to the Federal Association of the German Heating Industry (BDH), around 236,000 in 2022 alone heat pumps installed – a record.
